S2725QS, HDMI wake up issue on a TB4 dock as a 2nd monitor

I just got a S2725QS and it has wake up issue on HDMI port (1 and 2):

1. When it connects to a dock (Lenovo Thunderbolt 4 smart dock), it cannot be woke up from sleep. I have to power cycle (power button) the monitor to make it display image

2. When it connects to the video card (nvidia 5060) of my PC as a second monitor. When I use Win+P to select extend mode, it does not wake up either

3. Sometimes, when it enters sleep mode, the monitor freezes, i.e. no response to power button and joystick. The only way to unfreeze the monitor is to unplug/plug the power cord.

On the other hand, the DP port works properly in all scenarios. The previous monitor (HDMI) also worked well. It appears that HDMI port works fine in these scenarios: e.g. 1. the monitor connects to the laptop's HDMI port; 2 it connects to the video card alone.

Anyone has similar issue? Any idea?

A bit update: the issue is not as bad now.  My setup:

  • PC's NVidia 5060 connects to U4025QW DP and S2725QS DP (I tried S2725QS HDMI 1 (or 2) during tests, it was a no go, as I had random black screen on U4025QW whenever S2725QS HDMI was connected, pretty much same as the issue here.
  • Laptop connects to a Lenovo a Thunderbolt 4 smart dock via TB4.  The dock then connects to S2725QS HDMI1 and U4025QW TB4.

So on PC, extending to S2725QS DP always works.

On Laptop (always powered on), if the previous session is on S2725QS HDMI1, S2725QS can be woke up always.  If the previous session is on S2725QS DP, S2725QS cannot be always woke up.  When this issue happens, I can either manually select HDMI1 (I assigned HDMI1 to one of the joystick directions), or press the joystick down, the monitor then shows a info block saying no signal on DP and so on, but will show HDMI1 content after a few seconds.

I updated NVidia 5060's firmware, it appears that U4025QW no longer goes to black screen randomly when S2725QS HDMI is connected.  I didn't keep the configuration long enough to be sure though.  But NVidia 5060 also has the same waking up issue on S2725QS HDMI (at@0Hz or 120Hz).  So far, S2725QS HDMI can only be reliably woke up when it is connected to the Laptop's own HDMI port.

One workaround is found though.  Now S2725QS's DP is connected to Lenovo a Thunderbolt 4 smart dock, so waking up from laptop is solved.  At the NVidia 5060 side, S2725QS HDMI is connected to one its DP ports via a DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter (Cable Matters in this case).  The refresh rate of S2725QS HDMI has to be 120Hz (No VRR as it is not supported by the adapter. 60Hz has the same wake up issue).    S2725QS HDMI then can be woke up reliably (so far).
