S2725QC, how to connect to PC DP connection?
How do I connect a Dell S2725QC monitor to my PC GPU DP? The supplied cable is USB-C both ends but my GPU has DP sockets.

Those will not work. A PC DP (DisplayPort) cannot "upgrade" to a monitor USB-C port =
PC DP out --> DP to USB-C cable --> Monitor USB-C in
Those cables you bought are designed for the opposite setup =
PC USB-C out --> USB-C to DP cable --> Monitor DP in
As Chino stated, you must get a DP to HDMI cable =
PC DP out --> DP to HDMI cable --> Monitor HDMI in

@Chino de Oro
Thanks again for the help, Chino. Can I ask one last thing before I screw this up again? As I said above, I'll be trying out a Display Port to HDMI Active adapter when it arrives but would like to test out another cable meanwhile.

Based on the product description, should this work OK connecting a DP 1.2 (PC OUT) to HDMI 1.4 (MONITOR IN)?

While I could point you to the right direction and finding the right parts, I do not have much experience with the quality of products manufacturers and therefore, unable to vouch for any products on shopee Singapore.

As for the question regarding quality adapter/cable products from Amazon, I would select the product which has more than four stars and with several thousands reviews. Most will have warranty, good for return or exchange.

This monitor was intended for laptops. Cable for your need can be purchased separately. You can connect using a DisplayPort to HDMI cable. Connect DisplayPort end to PC, connect other end to HDMI on monitor.
HDMI is port #3 on the ports view screengrab below:

Thanks for your very helpful reply. I will get a cable. Can't help wondering how much Dell saved by not including a standard DP port though.
Thanks again.

Glad to help out. Cost saving is not the reason for lacking of a DisplayPort. As I have mentioned, the monitor is targeted for laptop users. HDMI port, USB-C (thunderbolt) port, power delivery capability, those are features commonly found on laptops.

Thanks Chino. Always a priviledge to learn from those more knowledgeable. I've ordered a couple of DP 1.4 to USB-C cables so am hoping this will work. I already have a small HDMI to USB-C adapter which I can try and can always get an HDMI to DP cable.

One of the cables I tried was, in fact, a DP male (plugs into the PC) with an HDMI male on the other end (plugs into the monitor). That didn't work though.
I've now ordered one of these which I'm hoping will do the job.

If it works, it will free up the single HDMI port on the PC. I can then cable that to an HDMI switcher which I use to share another monitor with a couple of other HDMI devices.

Very likely that a wrong cable was being used. If you prefer to use the USB-C connection, the cable must says DisplayPort to USB-C cable. Meaning the video signal will travel from DisplayPort port on video card to the USB-C port on the monitor.
If you pay attention, most of the cables advertisement, it said that USB-C to DisplayPort cable, those can not be used for your connection.

Yup, you're quite right, of course. I missed the significance of the word "to" as the indicator of the direction.
I was tempted to buy one of these as a way of adding a USB-C DP Alt Mode socket to my PC https://www.ebay.com/itm/235595941653 but it seems that I would lose the existing DP port on the motherboard so I'll try the DP to HDMI active converter option I mentioned first.
Thanks again.

If you have any informed opinions about the quality of specific brands or models of cable to offer, I'd be very glad to hear them. Amazon probably sell them. The example I sent was just to illustrate my question about the correct direction having missed the significance of the word "to" previously. Anyway, I believe I have it right now.
Since my last post, the DP to HDMI converter arrived and this seems to be working as intended (concerns about quality and performance notwithstanding). There seems to be some debate as to whether these adapters needs to be "active" or whether just a passive cable will do. I've yet to determine that. Many thanks again for you input.

Glad to hear that your new connection is working, and am appreciate that you have value my input. From what I understand, the ++ symbol next to a DisplayPort port (DP++) indicates a DisplayPort Dual-Mode, which allows for the use of passive adapter/cable to connect to HDMI or DVI. Whereas a standard DisplayPort port (DP) requires an active adapter for such connections.
Check your DisplayPort symbol or specs from your graphics output to determine if you need "active" or "passive" adapter/cable.
