S2716DG, won't fully shut off
I'm having a strange problem that just started happening a few months ago after owning this monitor for nearly 7 years. The monitor won't shut off. When I press the power button the screen turns off but is still detected in Windows 11. When I press the power button the screen pops right up immediately. It doesn't "boot" back up. It seems like the screen turns off but the entire monitor is still receiving power.
I've tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot this. I've been an IT pro for 15 years and this has me stumped.
I've removed every cable except the power cable thinking this might be some sort of display port handshake issue but the same thing still happens. I've unplugged all cables and power and kept the power button pressed for over a minute in order to drain all the energy. Nothing. The only way I can get the monitor to power on correctly is by pulling the power cable. It's the only time I see the boot logo.
You may be thinking that this isn't a big deal. Technically it's not but it's extremely inconvenient when you have other display attached. I have a 65" LG CX connected to my 5070Ti via HDMI 2.1, a Dell P2419H on display port 1.4, the S2716DG and a PSVR2 adapter connected with a display port 2.1 cable. I use the CX as my main monitor most of the time and if the S2716DG is plugged in it stays recognized as the main monitor as that's how I have it by default so when I turn on the monitor it takes over as the main display in Windows. When I turn it off the CX goes back to being the main monitor. This causes an issue with apps spawning on the s2716dg even when it's "turned off".
This issue also existed before I upgraded to the 5070Ti. Previous GPU was an RTX 3080 12GB. All other displays are functioning as they should. They all turn off except the CX since it's connected via HDMI and is detected as being on at all times.
Sorry for the long post. Wanted to give as much info as I could. If anyone knows what's going on I'm all ears.
