Please stop destroying DDM in the name of updates
Recently got a notification asking me to update DDM (Dell Display Manager) due to a "critical issue". The update turned out to be anything but critical. It installed a new utility called DDPM (Dell Display and Peripheral Manager) which may just be the worst and most unnecessary update.
The taskbar icon has gone missing, along with the ability to quickly and easily change the brightness of my monitor. In addition, it installed a 1000 other mysterious and cryptic "SubAgents" that has slowed down my PC.
I used to admire the simplicity and usability of the highly functional DDM v1. Then came DDM v2 which was a significant downgrade in terms of usability from DDM v1 but was still usable. This new DDPM is simply unacceptable. I don't need my monitor utility to be fancy. I need it to be functional and usable.
Does anyone Dell ever test these "upgrades" or seek for user feedback before pushing them out? Does Dell have any QA staff left? Who approves these changes?

I agree. The new app is unusable in its current form. How did this get out of QA?

In addition to unbelievably sluggish performance and unhelpful UI tweaks, I found task bar visibility issues and context menu missing.
I was able to find the older version (2.3.2.20) and installed it. Whew. Grab it while you can.

sigh!
I have an AW3225QF and its not even detected by the new DDPM. Not able to use the Software at all. However, there were also specific problems after DDM 2.2.0.43 as I wrote here.

I installed the Dell Display and Peripheral Manager Version DDPM-Setup 2.0.0.72 and it broke my Taskbar Auto Hide right away, I called Dell Pro Support 4 time about the issue and none of the techs could solve the issue, I finally started thinking about it and uninstalled Dell Display and Peripheral Manager Version DDPM-Setup 2.0.0.72 and the Taskbar Auto Hide started working with out even having to reboot the computer...

Below is the link for the old DDM 1.55 for Windows, I found in my NAS. I kept it when I bought my Dell monitor back in 2022. I uninstalled all Dell related software including 2.0.0.72 and installed 1.55 - it works like a charm!

@2nolife I installed this older version of the Display Manager and my laptop told me it wasn't supported and it didn't recognize any of my Dell monitors, real bummer...

@Justusmom - look at my second post. The moderator helpfully added a link (the underlined find) to a page with older versions. Find one that works for you.

I am still using DDM on my U4025QW monitor. I'm running Windows 10 Pro on a Lenovo laptop. The "News and Interest" section on the right side of the Task bar is there no image is displayed for it. You just have to know where to click to activate it. Sometimes when I right-click on a system tray icon to display my Acronis backup software's notifications, the whole notification area is just black. I have never been able to get the firmware update installed on this monitor. This will be my last Dell monitor purchase. I can't seem to get any help from ANYONE on here!

When checking the Windows 11 Reliability Monitor, I noticed "Inventory Collector Tool (x86)" stopped working. I wasn't familiar with this software, but apparently it's part of Dell Core Services which installs with DDPM. Great, more unrequested analytic gathering software to slow down your computer. I uninstalled it.
Another reason to avoid the new software.

DDPM 2.0.1.16 had multiple issues for me (as others have found). My monitor is a U3223QE.
It installs 3 programs -
1. Dell Display and Peripheral Manager
2. Dell Core Services
3. Dell Peripheral Core
Uninstalling 1. does not uninstall 2. & 3.
I then found uninstalling 3. threw error "An error occured unregistering DPMService. Error Code: -2147319780"
I found that to uninstall all 3 programs you have to do it in this sequence: First uninstall 2. then 3. then 1.
I don't know if previous versions of DDPM, 2.0.0.72 for example, are as borked as 2.0.1.16 but I'm certainly not going to find out - back to DDM 2.3.2.23 for me thanks to the link from ktmrc8 above.
I beleive DDPM 2.0.1.16 was rolled out because of a critical issue - if this was a security related issue my guess is that would be if the network KVM feature was installed during setup which I don't - so I am comforatble with DDM 2.3.2.23 since it works, and especially since it doesn't install 2. & 3. which seem to load a ton of bloatware.

UGGGGG, DDPM v2.0 is incredibly unreliable on both Dell and non-Dell systems. After multiple installs/re-installs I gave up and went back to the old version ddmsetup.exe. See FAQ post https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/monitors/faq-windows-os-ddm-and-ddpm/647f735ff4ccf8a8de126590.

I just got the U2725QE two days ago and have been having many different issues nonstop with DDPM. Wondering if I should just return the monitor?

@dellmaxx Many users report issues with DDPM. I doubt it is your monitor. Uninstall as per my post above - you need to uninstall
1. Dell Display and Peripheral Manager
2. Dell Core Services
3. Dell Peripheral Core
but you need to uninstall these 3 in the correct sequence (per my post). Factory reset the monitor for good measure.
Then try installing DDM 2.3.2.23 per link in post from ktmrc8 above. Note when Dell released DDPM they said it was because DDM had a critical issue - I would guess that's related to security using the network KVM functionality but I don't know (I don't use network KVM - I had a quick search and I couldn't find any link to a critcal security issue for 2.3.2.23 only some for versions before 2.3.2.23, but that doesn't mean ther aren't any).
DDM 2.3.2.23 works fine for me (Win11) but I use the usb KVM only but it may work with it's network KVM as well (accepting any security vulnerabilities it may have of course). If it works for you then that suggests your monitor is fine - you can either keep using DDM, accepting any security risks (whatever these may be) or uninstall it and wait for Dell to fix DDPM.
The companion, and separate, app to DDM is DPM (per link in post from ktmrc8 above) which I don't need since I use the usb KVM only - I don't know exactly what DPM does.
Hope that helps.

This is a garbage piece of software. It will sit on the Detecting Devices screen for more than a day if I let it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Killing the processes is difficult as all of them seem to restart all the rest. The Check for Updates button, when it's actually available, which isn't often, doesn't do anything. Most bad software actually starts and you can tell its bad. This one doesn't even make it that far. I need this updated.

@tonysUK DDM wasn’t giving the features I needed on my U2725QE since everything was grayed out. However I was able to upgrade to DDPM from DDM and it resolved my issues. Testing a fresh install again and issue reoccurred while upgrading to DDPM from DDM resulted in no issues so far.
