P3424WEB, Built-in Webcam flickers/jumps, often not detected
I just upgraded from a Dell C3422WE (which I loved) to the Dell P3424WEB in hopes of a newer, smoother experience. Unfortunately, in less than a week I’m running into serious problems with the built-in webcam:
- The integrated camera is frequently not detected by Windows (it disappears from Device Manager and video conferencing apps).
- When it is detected, the video flickers, jumps, or freezes, making it unusable for Teams/Zoom calls.
Troubleshooting Already Performed
- Firmware & Drivers
- Installed the latest firmware update for the P3424WEB.
- Confirmed all Dell Display Manager and USB-hub drivers are current.
- Video Settings
- Adjusted flicker reduction from 50 Hz → 60 Hz (and back again) in OSD—no improvement.
- Tested in multiple video-chat apps (Teams, Zoom, Windows Camera).
- Lighting & Environment
- Changed ambient lighting, closed/opened curtains, and adjusted monitor brightness—flicker persists regardless of light source.
- Connectivity
- Connected via the same USB-C cable and port that worked flawlessly with the C3422WE.
- Tried an alternate certified USB-C cable.
- Power-cycled the monitor and performed a full PC reboot after each change.
- System Checks
- Verified Windows 11 Pro is fully up to date.
- Confirmed no other USB video devices are conflicting.
My Setup
- KVM
- I use a 4-port external KVM switch because the Dell monitor only supports 2 computers for keyboard/mouse switching, and I need access for 4 different machines. The KVM switch connects to the Dell monitor, which routes keyboard/mouse and webcam traffic.
- This same exact setup worked perfectly with the C3422WE. Nothing else in my configuration has changed except the monitor—and that’s when these webcam issues began.
Given that multiple threads mention this webcam has problems:
- Is a firmware or driver fix in development to address the webcam problems?
- Is there a recommended workaround beyond what I’ve already tried?
- If no resolution is imminent, should I proceed with a return or replacement?
I was extremely pleased with my C3422WE and expected the P3424WEB to be a solid upgrade, but right now it’s unusable for professional video calls.

Update: Talk with Support and after many troubleshooting actions, it was determined that this monitor is faulty and they are sending a new one.
