P2719H, checks for a DP signal every four minutes
I have the Dell P2719H monitor, but I suspect that the problem I will describe affects other Dell monitors as well. My signal source is DP. When my monitor is sleeping, about every four minutes it will display these three messages in succession:
"Searching for signal"
"No DP signal from your device"
"Entering power save mode"
Then my monitor will go black, and after about four minutes the cycle will repeat. It has been doing this for as long as I can remember. I don't know why my monitor is searching for a DP signal every 4 minutes, and I wish this would stop. Is there a solution?

Test the 6 year old P2719H on another computer using same DP to DP cable. Same issue? If yes, test a different DP to DP cable on both computers. If still same issue, use the P2719H HDMI in port or VGA in port. Or replace it.

Thank you for your suggestions, which I already knew about from my earlier research. Swapping cables and computers makes no difference.
Another suggestion from my earlier research was to check for a possibly damaged DP port on the computer side and the monitor side. I am only able to check for physical damage, and there is none that I could discern.
Notable during my research was that no one suggested a possible incorrect setting in Windows, or in my graphics driver, or in Dell's Display Manager 2 that I might have made.
In my mind, the only remaining source for this problem lies in the monitor itself.
If this problem was widespread for this monitor, it would be well known and someone would tell me about it. Since that has not happened, I conclude that it's either a one-off or the result of bad QA. Since I'm reluctant to take a chance of having the same problem with another Dell monitor, when I buy my next monitor I'll simply choose a different brand.

I'm sure just turning the monitor off, if you know it has the issue, is a cheaper option.

Of course, and that's what I'm doing for now. [eye wink emoji]
