My Monitor Blacks Out

My Dell Monitor E228WFP will work when i start up for about an hour with no problems, then it will go black.

If I turn it off and right back on it works for about 3-5minutes at a time.

I have checked all display, screensaver and power settings.  I have tried changing the refresh rate, I have run deep scans for adware and viruses that may cause problems.  I can't find anything can you please help.

This does not sound like a computer problem.  Seems like a thermal issue to a component is occuring, causing a shutdown.  Tell me you're under warranty, right?

Same monitor (DELL E228WFP), same problem (intermittent monitor shut off, and in fact occured as I'm typing this).  Issue started within the last 24 hours.  I have checked drivers for the monitor and the graphics card, which register as working properly.   Have done the Factory Reset for the monitor.   Still occurs, unpredictably.   Any other suggestions?   Any follow up information about a thermal sensor issue?  This is a mild annoyance right now, but if it gets any worse, it will be a major annoyance.

Has anyone ELSE experienced this immediately after a Windows Update?

To follow up:  I contacted Dell Technical Support who had me run a Monitor Test with the monitor disconnected from the hard drive.  This confirmed that the problem was with the monitor, and not related to the computer.

Dell has sent a replacement--a REFURBISHED monitor to replace my NEW (albeit defective) one with scarcely 2 months' use.  I learned from Tech Support that Dell would only replace NEW with NEW if the malfunction occurs within the first 21 days' use.   I have been a Dell customer for 10 years, through 4 computers, and this is the first time I've had to have a replacement.  I have to say that I am surprised and disappointed with this policy of replacing NEWLY purchased components with REFURBISHED ones.   At the very least, you would think that Dell would offer a discount coupon for the difference between the price of a new monitor and that of a refurbished one.    This could well be Dell's Palin for me the next time I get ready to buy--a negative decision-changer.
