6271R DISPLAY, MULTISCAN, COLOR, 17, DUAL, P780

I am starting to get wavy lines going up the vertical sides of the monitor.  Nothing new has been added to the computer.  (Software or hardware)  This just started two days ago.  I'm wondering if I am seeing the last days in the life of my monitor?  The same distortion occurs in safe mode, only worse.  The monitor passes the monitor self test...no video card issues!  At times the monitor has difficulty centering the display.  It will start out of alignment to the left or right and then it will slide it to the center.  Any suggestions?  Is it time to send it to the old monitors home?  Thanks in advance!

BTW...I've had this monitor since October of 1999 and have had no problems with it until now!

uggiewan,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Here are some things to try and resolve the issue with the monitor.

  • Perform monitor reset
  • Ensure monitor is in proper video mode
  • Adjust the appropriate geometric control

Jesse,

Thanks for your reply!

Could you give detailed instructions for the items you suggested I try?  Or direct me to the Dell webpage which gives these instructions?

Thanks!
