3008WFP, intermittent blank screen, overheating?

Hello,

I have a 3008WFP that intermittently increases in brightness for a second, then goes blank. The power LED stays blue, so it isn't in power save mode, but the monitor stays blank until I turn it off and on again. This is the second one I've had that has this problem. It is running at 2560x1600 connected to a Lenovo ThinkPad T61p laptop with a Quadro 570m video card, sitting on a ThinkPad Advanced Mini-Dock. I have an identical configuration that works fine at home where I use the same laptop, so I'm wondering if it is an overheating problem with the monitor or perhaps the dock. The problem occurs after  2+ hours of use, but increases in frequency throughout the day. Is there a way to check if the monitor has overheated

edallme,

Not that I know of. You should find a way to test the monitor without the dock to eliminate the dock as a possibility.

I brought the working dock from home, and continued to have the same issue. It seems the problem is with the monitor or the environment. The ambient temperature where it is used is generally cooler than at home, though there is less room for air circulation.

So you have tested it with two docks. Test it without any docks.

I don't have anything else that can drive it. The laptop/dock pair works with another 3008wfp at home for 3+ months.

Get it replaced and check the replacement on that gear. Contact Dell Technical Support and provide to them the following information -

Monitor Order number or PC Service Tag number if purchased with a PC:
Monitor 20 digit PPID number found on the back on a label or on the slider card on the left rear:

I have the exact same issue. I've done as the previous replier suggested, and I've filed with tech support. I'm pretty sure this is an overheating issue; I've currently turned down the brightness from 75 down to 60, and it seems to be OK...though if I turn it back up, I'll black screen in 10 minutes. The monitor runs pretty hot.
