xps 15 (9560) battery status idle and blinking orange led

hi,

i have a 9560 xps 15 that i bought back in 2017. it's been 3 years now and i'm pretty happy with it. but today my battery stopped charging and the led on the front side started blinking orange. i checked the status of the battery in bios and it says idle and it needs to be replaced. but then i also checked the battery report from windows current capacity is around 60% of the designed capacity. it looks fine. i tried disconnecting the battery and then holding the on/off button for a few minutes and then reconnected it but nothing happened. only with ac adapter the laptop is working.

what can be done? do i really need to replace the battery or is there a way that i'm not aware of?
