New Inspiron powering up automatically when lid is raised

I'm in the process of setting up my Inspiron 2n1 and I've noticed that if I lift the lid, it automatically powers up, as if it's been in sleep mode, even if I just shut it down. I've checked the power setting and can't find anything there that would allow this.  How do I turn this "feature" off.  If I want to power up, I'd rather use the power key. 

BTW, I'm wondering if it's actually going into sleep mode since the battery is draining even when it's shut down.  Seems to me it shouldn't lose a lot overnight, yet it can go from almost full to almost empty overnight.
