Microsoft Build 2011 - Windows 8 is coming!

Microsoft has been making early versions of Windows 8 available for a while via a restricted TAP program.  With this weeks Build conference they are throwing the doors open!  (Those of you who saw Txomin's mail earlier this week have already gotten the news.)

While built on the underpinnings of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8 is an extremely ambitious (and in some cases, risky) effort on Microsoft's part.  The list of changes large and small is in the hundreds.  Highlights include the first major revamp of the GUI since Windows 95 focused on mobile devices (but the old style desktop will be preserved), massively improved performance and scalability for the base OS, Hyper-V, and clusters, massive changes in Visual Studio to improve end to end integration and debugging, and streamlined Hardware and Software certification processes and tools.  I'll be going into more detail in subsequent posts.

If you want to look at the keynote presentations and breakout sessions for the Build 2011 conference, check them out at http://www.buildwindows.com/.  Links to the keynotes are on the main page, the breakout session recordings can be found by following the Sessions link.

Regards,

Butch

Ike,

Have you ever tried this http://scitechie.com/04/free-download-trial-version-of-windows-8-with-ie-10/. I am not deep diving into it. But it seems to provide some trial with IE10.

Have a look at "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/home/" you can download the developer preview only but it will give you an insight into Windows 8.  Excellent user experience.
