Consolidating LUNs
Hello experts,
Hope you can help me with this one.
Our customer has an environment with hundreds of Microsoft Windows physical hosts. Each host has several small LUNs.
Customer is now thinking in migrating this environment to a a new storage and as part of the migration process, customer would like to reduce the number of LUNs.
I have got no idea how this can be accomplished.
Anyone in this team can help?
Thank you very much,
Agostino

using Microsoft P2V tech, transform the physical server to VM.
and then using storage migration in SCVMM or Hyper-V.

The other thing that needs consideration are the applications pointing to drive letters and mount points. You will need to modify/reinstall some apps to point to new drive letters or use mount points etc.

Can you give us an idea of what kind of data are on those hosts? Probably a combination of everything, but there are some storage migration options for HyperV that you might want to do first. Then maybe look at SQL Server and other apps next and then robo copy everything else. It might take a "staged" approach.
