"you are currently not using a display attached to an nvidia gpu" even after reinstalling
Hi, I'm running a 4 year old Alienware M14x R2 w/ Nvidia GT 650M. Initially when i had the problem, I referred to previous posts and uninstalled it via device manager, then again with Guru 3D and then manually deleting Nvidia & Nvidia Corporation files in my C: drive. Now that i have it reinstalled (from NVIDIA's website, the drivers on dell's site make my laptop get stuck in a reboot loop and doesnt install), I am able to access GeForce Experience (starts fine and tells me all drivers are up to date) but control panel isn't showing up. Ok, fine. So I try to manually run the control panel exe file at C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Control Panel Client, and again, it says im not using a display attached to an nvidia gpu.
P.S.My express code got ripped off, so am unable to contact dell services.

Another quick way to get the Service Tag on Windows is to open PowerShell Console and type "Get-WmiObject win32_bios". The Service Tag will be what appears in the SerialNumber field.

Do you know if you still have warranty on the system? If so you should be able to get your Service Tag by entering the BIOS. If not (no warranty etc), what happens if you remove the external monitor and just run the normal display (I don't think it will help here but just curious)? Lastly what version of Windows is on the system?
Best regards,

I'm quite confident that it's no longer covered by warranty as the system's been at least 4 years old.(Also remember checking the warranty early of last year before calling for Dell's help) Is it still possible to acquire the service tag from bios maybe? The normal display doesn't make any difference either. The gpu still runs when graphic intensive tasks are carried out (confirmed with a stress test which displayed nvidia gpu temps rising), but nothing I've done so far fixed the "not using display attached to nvidia" problem. It's running on 64bit Windows 10.

Thanks for the updates. Can you try entering the BIOS getting the Service Tag, and then Private Message me it, it might help me look into this. Regardless I will try to see if I can find anything. If anything changes please let me know.
