[Vostro 3450] Any tips for installing Windows 10?
Hi!
Vostro 3450 comes with Windows 7, on support pages drivers are only for Windows 8 and I know, that this machine does not support Windows 10. But I know from searching Google, that Windows 10 works fine on Vostro 3450. Have you got any tips I should know before installation? Thanks a lot! :)
Best regards,
Mateusz.

Windows 10 Version 1709 has a large array of inbuilt driver support inbuilt and will likely give the system basic functionality out of the box...
For an earlier build of Windows 10 someone listed a set of drivers which worked:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19660989
Ensure you have BIOS A13 before proceeding:
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER00952500M/1/3450A13.exe
Follow this guide to make installation media and perform a clean install:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-windows-1709/
After installation try this or this for Intel Rapid Storage Technology:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23496/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-?product=55005
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01771971M/1/3540_Serial-ATA_Driver_KK61F_WN_12.8.2.1000_A01.EXE
Try this or this for the Free Fall Sensor
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03107920M/1/7348_Application_653RF_WN32_4.13.61_A00.EXE
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03112486M/1/Chipset_Driver_CGGCK_WN32_4.11.0067_A00.EXE
Try this for the Synaptics Finger Print Sensor Driver:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=6KKVY
Try this Card Reader Driver:
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03126808M/1/SD-Card_Driver_1FF6Y_WN32_10.0.10125.31214_A00.EXE
For the Touchpad you should install Synaptics 19.0.15.2 via a manual install via the Device Manager as described here:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/dell-touchpad-drivers/
Newer Wireless Card drivers are here (Depends on variant) although Windows 10 Version 1709 may have them inbuilt:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/dell-wireless-cards/
Try this for the Audio Driver (if not satisfied with the inbuilt driver):
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER04408227M/2/Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_331N1_WIN_6.0.1.6122_A08.EXE
Try this AMD Video (if Windows 10 doesn't give a satisfactory driver):
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
You should install Dell Quickset:
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER00955635M/11/APP_Quickset_W78_A05_Setup-GMFY2_ZPE.exe

Hi pudens,
Thanks for posting.
Apologies but as you said, the Vostro 3450 is not supported under Windows 10 by Dell, so we would be unable to provide you assistance with this. Even though it may run Win 10, the drivers would not be available. You could try the Win 8 drivers, but there's no assurance they will work as expected. One of the Dell Forum Rockstars may have some ideas, so check his web page to see if there's anything there that is helpful for your issue.

Thanks a lot - this is all I need. :) In my case only free fall sensor needed manual instalation od driver, all others comes with Windows 10. I change manually driver for Synaptics, for more configuraton options.
But I have one more question - I found that fans working at high speed almost all time. Is there something in Windows 10 that causes it, or it is controlled by BIOS? Fan system and thermal paste was changed in 2015 or 2014 and from that this laptop was used rarely...

What are your power options? Sometimes setting a laptop to "maximum performance" results in it overheating and leads to fans working at high speed and ironically lesser performance... The balanced setting usually works better.
