power button On Latitude D505

the power button on my latitude D505 is beginning to fail and not work easily is there anyway that i can use another button to turn my computer on? or is there any easy way to fix this problem

If it's just the button itself, you can replace the control strip (the strip above the keyboard), which includes the button, for about $15-20.

Hi, I am having a similar problem and have noticed that if I depress the micro switch below the button that it will only power on if I press it hard enough to force the entire board to move slightly downwards.

I am thinking of using double sided tape to stick a piece of plastic below the button, which should be thick enough to cause the entire board to move downwards when depressed, with less force.

Are there any downsides to using this?
