Keyboard loss Inspiron 14Z-5423 after battery replacement

I replaced the battery in my Inspiron 14Z-5423 ( I did this once before with no problems).  This time, the laptop booted up and everything looked ok but the only 7 keys working on the keyboard .  I thought it was a bad keyboard, so I replaced that and now the same keys only work on the new keyboard.  I checked all the cables that I unhooked to get the battery out and all appear ok. An external usb keyboard works fine.

Thank you for your message.

This seems to be an issue with the keyboard connector on the motherboard. Since you have replaced the keyboard & the issue persists.

Make sure that the keyboard cable is connected correctly, the side marked UP should be facing up (towards the keyboard) try to reseat the cable again.

If the system is under warranty, you share the service tag along with the registered name on a private message (by clicking on my Dell username) & we will have this replaced as per warranty.

If the system warranty has expired & if you want to get the motherboard replaced, you can reach out to our out of warranty team or reach out to a local technician.
