Inspiron n5030 willl no longer turn on after cutting power

Hi,

My laptop, model Inspiron n5030 will no longer turn on after cutting the power while I was using the BIOS. To test a HDD,

I had opened the laptop up and changed the hard drive. The drive seemed non-functional, so I booted in the BIOS. I changed some settings and pulled out the power plug to restart the laptop. When I put the plug back in, the laptop would not start anymore. There is no fan noise, no backlight and no indicator lights at the bottom of the laptop to show that it is powered. The light on the block of the power cable is on though.

I tried all power configurations: with battery and cable, just cable, just battery. I tried taking out and plugging back in the keyboard to see if the power button was maybe not connecting. I tried putting all screws back in.

Would love some help with this,

Thank you!

Hi HENKIE.123,

It sounds like some component is not connected properly.

Check the keyboard / palmrest / HDD connections again.

Disconnect the HDD / ODD and memory modules and power on the system and check if it detects the absence of memory.

When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed?

Does the adapter led stay on and stable or does it go off when connected to the system?

If nothing works, then the motherboard is suspected faulty and needs to be replaced.

If there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

Hi Rishi,

Thank you very much for the quick and elaborate response. I have managed to fix the laptop. The problem was that I simply forgot to plug in one of the palmrest connections.

Thanks again!
