Inspiron 15-5577, external monitor no longer seen
I have been running an external monitor on my Inspiron 15-5577. Suddenly I get an error on the monitor "input not supported". It was working fine 24 hours ago. Now, after some updates, the laptop wont detect it as a second monitor?

* What specific updates did you install?
* What specific monitor model?
* How is the monitor connected to the Inspiron 15-5577? Using what cable and ports on both?

the updates were windows 10 updates from a week ago. the only other change was that i installed a 250gb ssd and cloned the c drive to it ..the monitor is an older acer h233h and is connect via hdmi. it works with the lid open but when i close it i get input not supported. have removed and reinstalled intel graphics drivers, made sure power setting are correct (do nothing with lid closed), tried booting into lower res setting via safe mode. Installed the acer drivers that I could find (vista).

It has got to be a driver issue with that 8 year old monitor and Windows 10. Before closing the laptop lid, go into the Display settings and set the Acer to "clone" the Windows desktop. Then close the lid. What happens? Is there another monitor there with HDMI in port to test?
