Higher Capacity SSD for Inspiron 15 5577
I recently (a week ago) received a new Inspiron 15, 5577 with a 256 GB SSD - a Sandisk X400 M2 type. Question is, will this accept a standard SATA SSD, such as a Samsung EVO 850? As its still "new" I'm not going to open it to find out. The Dell documentation shows both the M2 and a standard hard drive. But, is the hardware (SATA connectors) there for a "standard size" SSD? Maybe I need to upgrade the M2 drive to higher capacity? but I'd rather use a Samsung EVO 850.
I plan on using this in my recording studio and 256GB is not enough.
Thanks/Jack

I ordered a Samsung M.2 2280 form, 500GB SSD to replace the stock 256GB. That should work OK for what I want to do with recording.
This can be considered resolved.

I'd verify that the X400 is M.2 -- most of the ones I've seen in Dell systems are 2.5" SATA drives.
You will have space for a 2.5" SSD IF the current drive is M.2 -- however, you'll want to verify that the bracket and connector are installed in the system (most often if the system isn't ordered with a 2.5" drive, they're not included).

It is an M2 according to the Dell Setup and Spec's (this model is marketed as a gaming laptop). It shows the M2 drive and space for a hard drive but don't know if the hardware (and connectors) are there for a hard drive. I don't want to open it yet, give it a month at least (its doing well right now).
I did some research on M2 drives this morning (never thought about them before) and there are 500GB m2 drives available. If the needed SATA/Power cabling is not there I can go that route.
