E6240 touchscreen and other upgrade options
Hello,
I have recently acquired a Dell Latitude E6420 i5-2520m laptop. I have seen other E6420's with touchscreen and light up keyboards. I'd like to know first if its possible, and if so, what parts I need to purchase to upgrade this laptop to have a working (1) touchscreen, (2) webcam, and (3) light up keyboard (part numbers as well) also if this model will accept a PCi-e port ssd and what sizes and type it will accept. also if the processor is upgradeable to the i7.
I like this model laptop very much and would like to open up it's full potential for extreme long term use.
Thanks

All those upgrades will add up to a hefty parts bill -- you're better off buying a new (or newer) system.

I can find parts relatively cheap online. Just need to know (from dell) if the upgrades can be done without replacing the motherboard or other major components. basically will my system accept them just my installing the part and if new cables are needed. example, the touchscreen, is only the touch LCD needed and will I need to replace the video cable?
Thanks

To replace a non-touch with a touch panel, everything above the main system needs to be replaced -- the upper chassis, hinges, display panel, back cover, bezel and cables.

so would with that, my current system will have the connections on the MBoard for it to work out of the box. would you happen to have the part numbers of the parts I need?
Thanks

You can find the other parts at parts-people.com as well - but bear in mind these systems sell used for just a couple of hundred dollars, so compare the parts spend with the system value.
