Dell XPS 9550 TouchPad is lifted. Bulged battery?

The TouchPad in my Dell XPS 15 is partially lifted. Based on some Google searches this seems to be caused by a bulged battery. I looked up the specs on the laptop and the battery brand is Simplo, which matches the brand of the problematic batteries.

Is this dangerous? What can I do to have this fixed? My warranty expired a few months ago, but I don't want a potential fire hazard on my desk.

The battery should be removed immediately and replaced with a new one.

It is not safe to operate the system with a swollen battery. Remove and dispose of the old one now, and replace it when you can purchase a replacement.  For both the XPS 9550 and the Precision 5510, Dell is recommending LG batteries for replacement on this model.

The part number is T453X.
