Dell Inspiron 1764
I'm running Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron. I was updating a game I play, and and accidentally unplugged the external hard drive I keep those saved files on. Upon plugging it back in, I was then unable to get the laptop to recognize the external drive. It would show it in Device Manager, but I was unable to access it. I tried scanning for hardware changes, with nothing being shown. I can't find where the problem is. After snooping around online, I disconnected all of my peripherals and restarted the computer. I now get a message when trying to boot up that says "bootmgr is missing."
I'm not very computer literate, but I've pressed f2 and f12 to see if there's anything obvious that I'm missing.
Running the diagnostics, I get error code 2000-0123, and a message saying that memory integrity test has failed.
Any ideas?

Unplug the system, remove or disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec. Remove and reinstall both memory modules. Re-run the diagnostic -- if the system passes, you should be clear.
If you get another failure, install one memory module at a time in each socket, re-testing each time until you identify the faulty module (which would test bad in either socket) or the faulty socket (in which case both modules will test bad in a single socket). If it's the module that's bad, replace that module with a new one. If it's the socket that's bad, the mainboard will need to be replaced.
