The replacement drive will arrive blank so yes  -- you will be starting over (there's no point in reinstalling Windows on the present drive - wait until you  replace it).

:emotion-2:

Please list exact Dell model number. Example: Dell Inspiron 3543

In the meantime, run diagnostic to check the hardware on the system by following the steps below:

1. Power off the system. Remove all peripherals except AC adapter

2. Power on system, quickly start tapping the F12 continuously until you see Preparing one time boot menu in the top right corner of the screen. In the boot menu, stroll down to Diagnostic and then click on it.  After quick tests, click on Hard drive, and select Thorough Test Mode. Run Video Card and Memory as well.

Your hard drive has failed.  If the system is under warranty, call Dell with that error (which will be followed by a validation code they'll also need).  If not, any 2.5" 7 mm SATA hard drive, solid state drive or hybrid drive will work as a replacement.  You'll need a set of Windows 10  recovery media - if you did not prepare one, you can download the ISO from Microsoft.
