Battery for Inspiron 15R5520

Hi

I have an Inspiron 15R5520, which runs on 48Wh battery, 8848x. I want to replace it with T54FJ, which is a 60Wh battery and can fit in inspiron, for operating the laptop on battery for longer hours.  Both the batteries give an output of 11.1V

Can  I use T54FJ or should I go with 8848x?

I would like to hear from the users who have done the same.

Thank you

You can use that battery - just realize it will not fit entirely inside the system (it will protrude from the back of the system, making it physically larger).

It will fit fine - it will simply increase the physical size of the system along with the weight (it protrudes from the back of the system).

As long as you purchase a Dell OEM battery and the charger is working, it'll be fine.

If the charger is now not recognized, or you use a third-party battery -- all bets are off.

Hi

I have used T54FJ (60wh)  battery on my dell inspiron  15r5520. I am using the charger which I got with the laptop. Every thing is working fine. The battery fits perfectly into my laptop and no difference is observed. At times I see the message "Battery plugged in but not charging" . I just remove the battery (after removing the charger of course) and insert it again. Thats it. No issues observed so far.

Hi ejn63 thank you for the reply. .. So,  will that battery not fit properly? Does it affect the portability of the laptop? Will it keep falling out of the system? Or will it fix well but will look odd?

Hi ejn63..

I am not worried about portability as long as the battery doesn't come off or is exposed to moisture.. I use it at home, but move from one room to the other...will my existing charger work? I understand that it takes time to charge,  but have seen some users in amazon saying that they see a message "battery found but not compatible or unable to charge" or similar. Can you please throw some light on this.

thanks a ton
