Alienware M17X R4 - Black Screen on start-up, followed by 8 beeps.....
My Alienware M17x R4 Laptop was working fine yesterday. Went to turn it on today and all I get is a black screen accompanied with a series of 8 beeps. When I powered up, the power button is blue, no flashing of other keys. Have tried to run the self diagnosis but that doesn't work either...... Have done the uplug, remove battery, etc all without any success....... Please Help!!!! Thanks

The beep sequence means the system doesn't recognize the LCD.
Hold the D key through powerup -- that should initialize a self-test of the LCD, which means you should see a series of screen pattern/color combinations. If you don't, replace the display.
If you do see that, the next suspect is the wiring harness that connects the display to the mainboard. Replace that part.
If that does not solve the problem, the GPU is faulty - replace the mainboard.
