Unconnected SATA Cable

I opened the case to my Dell XPS 8900 and inside were two blue Sata Cables. One cable was connected. The Other SATA Cable was connected to a SATA Port to the right of the Memory slots. The other side was hanging loose in the case.

The first Blue SATAable comes from the front of the case near the hard drive to the bottom of the mother board into the Front USB 3.0 connector. The other blue cable that you can see next to the memory is not connected to anything.

Here's the blue cable that goes no where. Should this be connected to one of the SATA connection on the mother board?

It just seems strange to have a SATA Cable connected to the Mother Board and going no where?

Doubtful a SATA cable connects to a USB header on the motherboard.

There is a blue SATA port on the motherboard, right below the blue USB header. Cable from the blue SATA port should be connected to the boot drive. So you probably mis-IDed that blue motherboard connector.  Manual with board layout here:

How many hard drives do you have? The SATA port near the memory slots should probably connect to either an optical driver or to a second hard drive.
