System will not recognize thumb drives
Just installed a new Dell and when the user goes to use a thumb drive or camera, it recognizes the hardware, but will not assign a drive letter so you can access it. The computer does recognize and use usb printers etc, but not add ons which require a drive letter.
I went to administrative icon and disk management and cannot assign extra letters. I know in win 98 and before, I just added a line to the auto exec bat file like last drive=G and it would work. This is XP pro and the only computer I have ever had this happen with.
