E210882 is not a motherboard number its a UL Rating.   KINGWIN ADP 06 adapters will work for drives up to 120 Gigs.  You cannot use larger drives without at least XP SP1,  48 Bit LBA Bios, and Intel Rapid Storage Technology, v.9.6.0.1014 RST F6 drivers. Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) version 9.6 and newer supports 4k sector disks if the device supports 512 byte emulation (512e).

You connect the IDE and Power cables to them and then attach to a SATA Drive.  No drivers are needed they just work.  Larger Advanced format drives will have issues.

There is no way to use a cable to install a SATA drive on a mainboard with no SATA support.

You'll need to install a PCI SATA controller (and you'll also need a MOLEX to SATA power adapter for the drive -- it's long past the time that SATA drives had MOLEX power connectors on them.

If you install a SATA controller as ejn63 suggested, you should be able to install a SATA hard drive, but will you be able to boot from it...??

You probably will have to keep the current drive connected to the IDE cable as your boot drive and use the new SATA drive for data storage.

Thanks for  your   time  on this. After  careful consideration i think this is indeed the best way to go even if i have to leave the IDE cable plugged into the MOBO w the original HDD at lease i may be able to run something like Ubuntu 14.1 on the  new controller card!

Thanks  ejn63 for your asistance i really appreciate it!!

The Kingwin adapters work and do not need anything special to boot and otherwise work as intended. The only issues have to do with Advanced format drives and 48 Bit LBA and Bios.  Advanced format issues apply to IDE or SATA drives.

The only current Windows operating systems that natively support the full capacity of ATA drives larger than 137GB are:
Windows XP Home Service Pack 1 (SP1) or higher
Windows XP Professional SP1 or higher
Windows 2000 Professional SP3 or higher

Recommended Linux distribution would be UBUNTU 12.04.3 LTS

or Puppy Linux  LUPU 5.4  or  Knoppix 7.
