recording from mixer to pc
Help. I am trying to find the best way to connect my mixer to pc for recording purposes, from what i gather s/pdif rather than tape output from the mixer but unsure if it should go into my souncard or line in, i am looking to purchase the cable but not sure which one to buy?. Cheers

Hi Stuartgraham71,
Let's start with the model of your Dell and the soundcard, as well as the mixer you are using.

Very few PC's have an S/PDIF INPUT. Almost all that have S/PDIF are an output only. I have a home recording studio, using Sonar. The PC"s "Line In", analog is a two channel input. It will take a -10db "line level" from an audio source.
You can get a "Y" cable, with a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo plug on one end (for the PC's Line In) and whatever you need, such as RCA jacks, on the other end to connect your mixer.
