OptiPlex 990 USFF Line-in/Microphone Combo Jack
Can anyone provide an explanation of how the Line-in/Microphone Combo Jack on the rear panel of the OptiPlex 990 USFF (actually the same on all 990 models) is configured?
See http://clascsg.uconn.edu/download/specs/O990.pdf page 9 item #17 for a photo.
Is there a special plug that goes into this jack to split the 2 devices?
Is the jack stereo or mono?
Is it really just one input with a large voltage input range?
Thanks,

I wonder if this jack is wired in a TRRS format, with two separate inputs? If that is the case, then I wonder if a splitter cable such as www.amazon.com/.../ would work properly?

It detects Mic or Line input. Its not both. If you need both for headset then use USB to Headset Adapter.

If it "detects" mic or line it must have a way of doing the detecting. Where can I find the actual pinouts for this jack in Dell documentation? Is the rear panel jack separate from the 'Mic' input jack on the front panel of the computer?
