Optiplex 960 works with FLUX, Optiplex 9010 doesn't
FLUX is a program that changes the color temperature of the monitor/screen depending on the time of day, so for example in the evening it will change the color temperature to 2700K which has no blue in it and allows your melatonin production to proceed normally in producing sleep.
With my Optiplex 960, the FLUX program works just as it should, putting an orange cast to the screen at a certain time. But with the Optiplex 9010, recently acquired, although the FLUX program shows that it has triggered the color change, the screen remains at it's normal daylight color temperature.
I'd like to troubleshoot this problem...is there something, in the Optiplex 9010 configuration, that needs to be set (or unset) to allow this program to change the color cast of the screen. Can someone shed some light on how the works, perhaps we can figure out how to fix this problem.

Newer machines do not support DOS VESA Video commands. FLUX is not a Dell program and not supported here. Newer versions of INTEL Graphics do not support DOS VESA commands.
You also didn't say what monitors and interface (VGA) was being used. DVI and HDMI also do not support DOS VESA.
VESA BIOS Extensions (VBE) is a VESA standard, currently at version 3, that defines the interface that can be used by software to access compliant video boards.
They also tie into Flat panel interface extensions (FP)
Allows access to special features in flat panel controllers.
The Display Data Channel or DDC is a communication connection between a computer display and a graphics adapter that allows the display to communicate its specifications to the adapter. The standard was also created by VESA.

SpeedStep, I hope you're still monitoring this thread. It's been a long time since I first asked for help, but I'm finally back and still trying to solve this problem.
My monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster 914v LCD that has a VGA 15 pin interface. The graphics card(PCI-Express) , according to the Dell website (using my Service Tab #) is a AMD Radeon HD 7570 1 GB and without removing it, the visible side matches some photos I've seen online. I use 1024x768 resolution.
Although I barely know anything about VESA standards, I'm trying to figure this out. If you can guide me on this, it would be much appreciated.

VESA Standards are 1981 MS DOS standards. There will be no guiding or support for this.
UniVBE (short for Universal VESA BIOS Extensions) is a software driver that allows DOS applications written to the VESA BIOS standard to run on VGA display devices made 15 years ago or older.
Dell Does not support this, Microsoft No longer supports this. Dell does not support the software or Samsung Syncmaster 914v 19 inch 1280 x 1024 LCD which is an ANCIENT VGA ONLY display.
flux is not dell software.

The OEM Radeon 7570 card also DOES NOT SUPPORT DOS VESA extensions or Software.
Everything you are asking about is NOT SUPPORTED here and never will be.
