Optiplex 9020 - Booting from SSD
Hi
I am investigating adding an M2 SSD to my PC using the available PCI Express x4 connector and an Adaptor. Is it possible to boot from the SSD on the Optiplex 9020 and in this configuration?
The process is an i5-4570 and the OS is Windows 10.
Thanks, Nigel

Its possible but only if the BIOS will accept booting from an pcie card which I'm not sure the Optiplex 9020 does as its an older windows 7/8 machine. It will probably be easier to just install a regular SSD on the SATA port.

Thanks. I had thought of installing a Sata version but that means changing the current hard disk from 3.5" to 2.5 " as well. The version of the 9020 I have support either one 3.5" or two 2.5".

Hello
I also am investigating into a 240 gb PCIe Gen2 x4 or Gen3 x4 NVMe SSD but found another post where the 9020 didn't support NVMe to boot up.
