Optiplex 5050 Driver issues after Windows 7 downgrade
I have a straight out of the box Optiplex 5050 that shipped with W10.
We haven't yet migrated so I got a W7 reinstallation DVD issued by Dell and installed it.
W7 install went without a hitch. Have done it thousands of times.
However, it will not recognise any USB devices save for the Mouse and Keyboard. I have tried every port and every USB device imaginable.
The ports are working because devices can take a charge from it and, like I said, the keyboard and mouse are fine.
Broken USB ports are of little use to me because I need to install network Drivers to get the LAN port working!!
I fear it may have something to do with the W7 issues that happen with the 7th Gen intel processor.?
We have no immediate plans to migrate to W10 so I need to get this working!

There is a Driver pack from Dell for this.
You need to install the Driver pack.
Extract everything from the CAB into the documents folder and then update any missing pieces in the device manager.

Microsoft and INTEL have decided that windows 10 is REQUIRED. USB aka Chipset Drivers are not forthcoming built into the windows 7 disk and never will be. You will have to find OLDER systems with OLDER chipsets to continue to use Windows 7. This is why there is a skylake install DVD from dell.
The new support policy comes into effect with Intel's new 6th-generation CPUs Skylake and will affect all future CPUs and Chipsets Microsoft confirmed in a statement.
"Windows 7 devices with Skylake need to be upgraded"
Windows 10 is required on all new pc's by July 17, 2017.
