Optiplex 3020M DisplayPort
Hi All
I purchased an Optiplex 3020M which has VGA on the back and DisplayPort. I purchased a DisplayPort to HDMI cable and plugged it into my monitor and powered on the unit. Nothing was displayed on the monitor. When I connect with VGA, I get an output.
Having a poke around the Intel graphics driver, I couldn't see anything about DisplayPort. I also checked in the BIOS but nothing.
When I opened the hardware diagnostics and clicked on video, it tells me that HDMI and DisplayPort 'board' are not installed. This confused me somewhat as the device has a DisplayPort port on the back (see photo).
When I opened it up, it seems that there is an empty connection on the motherboard. Does this mean using DisplayPort is not an option on my device? This would be a shame as I wanted to do audio over DisplayPort to HDMI. I find it odd that it should include this port if it is not usable.

The DP (DisplayPort) above your thumb is integrated onto the motherboard named DP.
The empty slot is labeled DP_HDMI and was not used because we did not offer the optional DP_HDMI board on this model.

The DP should be working. The monitor Input Select should be set to HDMI, not DP. Do you have a DP to DP cable and a monitor with DP in port to test?
