Lost all sound. on Dimension 2400
I have lost all sound from my Dimention 2400 running windows XP. As I have had this pc for a long time I deleted what I thought were items I know longer required. I may well have deleted an important file. I have followed all of the items in the support help but cannot identify the problem. I have tried to run the Dell diagnostics but get the following error message when trying to download it.

Dell system detect and the online diagnostics do not support XP -- which is a dead OS that ended life in April, 2014. It has see no security updates since then and absolutely should no longer be used for anything online -- for both your security's sake and that of others, were it to be turned into an attack bot.
The Dell diagnostics can be accessed from the boot menu - press F12 a few times after powerup.
Assuming the hardware passes, reinstall the audio drivers (support.dell.com, audio). And please remove the system from the Internet!
