Inspiron 580s Mobo in Vostro 400 case
Hi everyone
I have an Inspiron 580s mobo that I want to put in a Vostro 400 case, the reason being I have a full size graphics card that wont fit in the 580s case. Ive compared both boards and they are the same m atx type but Im not sure the front panel and other connector headers are the same, and I kinda want to know before I take the 580s apart. Anyone have any info?
All responses are greatly appreciated

It's usually difficult to move a Dell motherboard into a new case, even into another Dell case. Dell uses a custom connector between the motherboard and the front panel. Connectors differ between models and they don't make the wiring info public.
So even assuming the board physically fits the new case, you'd have to be able to map the front panel connections before you can connect the motherboard to the front panel.

Hey thanks for the info but I already did the swap....everything was pretty straightforward, just had to dremel an extra slot for the HDMI connector in back. I would have swapped I/O panels but the Vostro case doesn't have a removable one...very strange, never seen that before!
