Inspiron 3250 Very Slow
Hi all. I purchased an Inspiron 3250 in April to replace my custom built desktop computer that was aging and starting to experience issues. Rather than fixing it or building a new computer, I found the Inspiron 3250 on special and purchased it, thinking it would save me trouble and money.
However, the Inspiron 3250 is slower than my old computer and I find that disappointing. At first, I thought it was because of all the pre-installed programs that came with up but after having done multiple clean reboots of Windows 10, the slow issue persists. It affects every program, including Microsoft Edge. Occasionally, I will receive an error saying there is not enough virtual memory when using Google Chrome or Apple iTunes. I never received this error with my old computer.
I was away for the summer and did not pick up on the issue until now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking of calling Dell to express my great frustration over their product. Thanks.
Here are the specifications:
- 4GB Single Channel DDR3L 1600MHz (4GBx1)
- 1TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive
- Intel® HD Graphics
- 802.11bgn + Bluetooth 4.0, 2.4 GHz, 1x1

4G isn't sufficient to run 64-bit Windows 10 well. Another 4 G will help reduce virtual memory use (swap to disc).
The other bottleneck is the hard drive -- replacing the boot drive with a solid state drive will also appreciably speed the system's performance.
