How to upgrade processor in Optiplex GX 240? 1.8 to what possible?

What is the fastest processor I can install in place of the existing 1.8 and what is the cost? I know this is an older processor. Where can I purchase the new faster replacement processor? What would happen if I use a 533 FSB processor instead?  Thanks.

Also the max RAM is 1 GB...why so little? I only have 512 MB and need more to run Photoshop CS Any way around this?

I seem to recall using 2.8 and 3.0Ghz cpus from powerleap in these and they worked fine.

Its difficult to find a northwood 2.8 or 3.0 these days but im fairly certain they existed.

Im not sure why they told you that you could only do 2.2ghz.
I dont have my GX240's anymore because I had a need for speed and DDR fit the bill.
But I remember getting 3.0ghz/400FSB pentium4's from powerleap.

Intel stopped making them quickly because they wanted to sell the newer chipsets and
newer cpus.

Its just like the Tualatin Pentium3's and Celerons. They are faster than their Pentium4
cousins so they stopped making them so that people would buy newer machines.
