Expanding RAM past 32gb max in XPS8700
Is there any way we can expand the ram past the 32gb limit in a XPS8700 folks? I'm already at the limit but need more brains. Any suggestions welcomed!

even the devils canyon has max of 32GB.

Memory definitely helps.
The only low dollar improvements would be additional SSDs. one for input data, one for output data.
Might be time to start looking into a new system. The highlights are more memory, more CPU cores, more I/O lanes and of course, more money.

I presume you already have 4x8 GB, so unless you can get compatible 16-GB modules (which will be expensive!), you won't be able to go beyond 32 GB.
Besides, Dell probably only certified with up to 32 GB, so there's no telling what might happen with more RAM. And max might also be limited by how much RAM the chipset on the motherboard can address...
What are you doing that requires more than 32-GB?

Hi Ron,
Using it for 4K video editing, motion graphics and lots of multitasking between assorted programs. After Effects, Photoshop etc while running a 49in 4K IPS monitor. I have a Nvidia 970 card.

Good call, I have a 1TB Crucial SSD to put in. I suppose I better get cracking. BTW, have you heard about the new Intel chips? 18 core game changer.
