Error Sending End Of Post message to Me, System Halt!

Dell Inspiron 3647
500GB Hard Drive
Service Tag:
2 External HDs plugged into the computer
It started by taking a long time to reboot, sometimes overnight, but it would eventually boot up. Then it started to boot up to putting my password into the Boot up screen, then I would get a black screen. I checked the registry key to make sure explorer.exe was the only key after shell. No changes there. I rebooted, and got the interminable Dell logo with the slow blue progress bar. I finally got to F12 - Diagnostic, and am currently running the Diagnostic program. At least twice I got this error message: Error Sending End Of Post message to ME, System Halt!
Results of the Diagnostic Program: Hangs at 56% - all green checkmarks except for Hard Drive and Memory. Still not able to boot up.

all green checkmarks except for Hard Drive and Memory.

Unplug the system, and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall both memory modules and the hard drive.

Leave the hard drive disconnected, restart and press F12.  Run the system tests.  If you still get the same behavior, try one memory module at a time in each socket until the error disappears.  If one module is the problem, replace it.  If one socket fails with both modules, replace the mainboard.

If both modules pass, reconnect the hard drive and rerun the diagnostics.  If  the same behavior/error returns, the drive is bad - replace it with a new one.

Thanks for your response. What really worked - I unplugged everything from the computer except for the mouse, keyboard, and monitor, and rebooted. The computer booted up like normal. I plugged in one external drive, and it was not recognized by Windows at all, so I unplugged it. I plugged in the second external drive, and Windows recognizes it, but when I try to reboot with it plugged in, it hangs at shutting down. So it seems that there is something going on with both external drives. As long as I unplug the external drive before rebooting, I might be ok.
