Dimension 4500 will not boot

When I press the power button nothing happens. The light stays green but nothing displays on the monitor - no Dell logo. The hard and floppy drives do not show any activity.

The power supply is good - I swapped it with another computer. I get GGGY indicator lights on the back of the case.

I have reseated all the cards with no change.

Any suggestions?

TIA

GGGY: Ensure that the cables are properly connected from the hard drive, CD drive, and DVD drive to the system board.

Try that and see if things improve.

I wish it was that easy. All the cables are connected properly.

The fans work, the power button is green, the indicator lights on the back of the case are lit GGGY, the light on the CD/ROM comes on for about one second but there are no beeps or anything else.

Ok, hopefully you just have a bad device. I would pull out all the drives but the system hard drive and try to boot. Then put them back in one at a time. Make sure jumpers are set to cable select and you install the first device on the end of the cable.

I unplugg everything without any luck. The indicators on the back of the case stilled displayed GGGY each time.
