Dell/Zylux A525 2.1 Channel Issues

I'm having a strange issue with my A525 2.1 speakers. These speakers were recently working just fine on an older Dell desktop. All dials and the the light on the right speaker seems to work fine.

When I try to use these speakers with my newer PC, it seems like 90% of the volume of the audio signal is only going through the subwoofer, with about 10% going through the right speaker and nearly nothing coming through the left speaker. The right speaker's volume dial works. The A525 set is plugged into the green "headphone" jack, and my headphones sound fine when plugged into the same jack. I've tried plugging the speakers into the front and back headphone jacks, as well as every other output jack. Nothing I have done has been able to produce more than a headphone's volume of sound in the left speaker. When I adjust the balance of the overall output in the Speaker Properties window I can turn the right channel to 0, yet the right speaker is still making sound while the left is silent. The same issue happens when plugged into my laptop. The fact that left side speaker still does anything at all leads me to believe it might not broken. I played a podcast on my phone through the speakers just now and the left side speaker is working perfectly like it should.

I have other speakers I can use, but this problem is interesting to me and I'd like to know why these speakers aren't working. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Thank you for your message.

What is the OS installed, is there any audio application like Wave Maxx installed?

Is the OS on both the notebook & desktop the same?

Is there any particular application to play audio?

The connectivity seems to be fine.

Do you get audio from the speakers if you restart the speaker & connect to your phone again?

There is nothing to analyze.  If some sound is coming out your computer and sound card are working.  The speakers are bad and will have to be replaced.

ALL of the speakers are driven by the amplifier in the unit.  There are no user serviceable parts.

AC power goes in.

Sound comes from the Green Connector cable.

The Orange connector attaches BOTH speakers to the Subwoofer/Amplifier.

I'm using Windows 7 on both the desktop and the laptop. I don't have Wave Maxx or any other similar applications on these computers.

I'm not 100% sure what applications you might be referring to. The problems persist no matter what application I'm using (VLC and Firefox), though I haven't tried to play a game through the speakers yet as I usually have a headset for when I play games. I have a RealTek sound driver which has it's own little menu and icon, but that's it.

Actually, I tried the phone again just now and it is now having the same issues that the computers are. So either I was mistaken when I first thought the sound was normal through my phone, or turning the speakers off and on again/re-connecting the phone did change something. It seems likely that I was initially mistaken.

Thanks for your help.

Quite condescending. I think that you're right about something being wrong with the speakers. That is, in fact, why I made this post in the first place. The diagram is accurate, but I know how to hook speakers up. Thanks.

I repair audio equipment, but I don't typically work with 2.1 desktop speakers, making this issue difficult to troubleshoot. If you have any understanding of what could potentially be an issue inside the device, I'd appreciate it, as I have the experience and the means to potentially repair it, depending on the fault. I'm actually more inclined to think there is a fault in the cable itself, but I appreciate the insight.

Thanks for your help.

"SOUNDS" like the speakers might be broken. Try them in another PC or with your phone.

If you had read all of the initial post that I made, you'd know that I have tried both a different computer and a phone already before making this thread. Good joke, though.
