Dell motherboard in Retail Case. Possible?
I was wondering if there was any feasible way to move a Dell Optiplex 9020 MT motherboard to a retail case. I realize that the case's FP connector and the board's FP header are of proprietary design. And there is that pair of (sensor?) wires coming from the case front grill, but not sure if those are the only 'irregularities'. I have assembled many retail PCs over the years, but never tried to move proprietary components to retail cases before.

The connectors are an issue. The connector wiring is undocumented and if you can trace out what each pin does then you can rewire to work. Motherboard mounting (holes) does not appear to be standard ATX so that will be a problem. It looks like you will need to use the Dell CPU cooler assembly. Rear I/O panel would be another issue.
Its not impossible but unless you "must" have a different case I would leave it alone.

Thanks, Fireberd. The non-standard mounting holes cinched it for me.
