Dell Inspiron 3250
I have Dell Inspiron 3250 , i3 6100 variant and was thinking of upgrading to an i5 6400 . I was unable to find any assistance throughout the web . I do understand that there is an i5 variant of the same model , but how do i know for sure that the other model uses the same motherboard like mine ?
I would really appreciate any help .

These use the same board - you can replace the i3 with the i5.

Make sure you have the latest version of BIOS before you swap CPUs, in case Dell added support for additional CPUs after you got your system.
You can go directly to the latest version even if there are intermediate versions between what you have now and that latest version.
Will you have to reinstall Windows...?
