CPU Compatibility w/ Dell OptiPlex 330

I was wondering before I bought it if the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 CPU is compatible. Not sure if the motherboard supports a quad core much less one with an 8mb cache. But I would like to know as I need the cores to run VM's.

The virtual PC software that ran on XP still works,  QEMM on Linux still works,  Earlier versions of oracle virtualbox still work.   SLAT requires newer CORE i3 I5 I7 processor and chipset.

Some have used Q8400  So Wolfdale and Conroe are ok
I do not think the Q6700 is tested or working.

slacr has a max tdp of 95w as opposed to the sl9um with a 105w max tdp which might damage the motherboard.

Q8400 (2.66GHz/1333MHz/4M L2/95W TDP)

I did end up buying it and I can confirm that it does work fine, it seems. The board does support a max of 105W so hopefully it doesn't kill the board or CPU but it does work after BIOS update to A11. However Idid end up finding while installing HYperV that this CPU doesn't support SLAT do VM's are out of the question. Virtualisation is supported though. DELL can add this to their site of supported CPU's.

Oh, didn't know that. Thanks. I am runnning Win10Ent x64 on it with no problems but because of the SLAT not being supported I will run VMWare Workatation 9.0.4 instead of Hyper-V.
