AMD PR ratings are based on speeds of prior AMD processors and no way compare to a P4. When you get down to about 2G in the P4 then the AMDs will be comparative and may actually out perform a P4.
I have both AMD AthlonXP and P4. A 3200 Barton core will score benchmarks similar to a 2.6 800fsb P4. Certain games and floating point calculations will be higher. It is not in the same ballpark as a 3.2 P4.
