Compressed audio - Dell Optiplex 3020, Win 10
Until very recently all was fine but somethings happened and now the audio is being compressed. I only noticed it about 2 days ago but it might have been doing it for a bit longer than that, I can't be sure. It's nasty and kills the life in music.
I wonder if a Win10 update has screwed the audio up.
I've checked all the settings I can think of and they look good. I wonder if it's the Dell audio Maxx Audio Pro that came with the PC. It looks like any eq or dodgy settings are disabled but it's just the sort of add-on that might cause problems. I think I may have had to switch settings off here when the PC was brand new to get it sounding right....but that might be a flawed memory.
The realtek driver says it is up to date and hasn't been changed since 2015
Any help very gratefully received.
A sad music fan :-(

geoffmozz,
Do you recall downloading any software recently?
Uninstall the Audio Drivers and reinstall them into the computer

Jesse,
Thanks for that. That has sorted it. I've never had an audio driver issue before. It's a great relief to have the full dynamics back. A heavy bass drum beat no longer dips the rest of the audio....phew.
The most recent software installs I've made are Google's Music Manager and PLEX Media Server. Shed any light?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
Geoff

The soundcard in 3020 is from Realtek and Realtek is still supporting this card with new drivers but Dell stopped supporting for some reason.

The driver re-install fixed my issue thanks.
