BIOS Manual Needed

Hello.

How can I see who the manufacturer is of the BIOS on a case by case basis? Generally speaking, it would be nice to see the manual to help explain what the options are and how to proceed.

Specifically, regarding the Dell Precision 7510, I am in the BIOS under General > Boot Sequence and the options on the right hand pane change when you select Legacy vs UEFI. And then, in Legacy there is a 'View' button. and this presents 3 more fields. It's be nice to know what drives these fields etc.

Conversely, in the UEFI mode of BIOS, there is an 'Add Boot Option', but it errors and says 'File System Not Found'.

Yet on a Latitude 5580, the BIOS shows under Boot Sequence options of 'Windows Boot Manager' and below that the options of Legacy or UEFI.

The options that appear depend on what's available to the system (i.e., how the drive is partitioned, formatted and what OS is installed).  If you have a drive that has a UEFI-bootable partition on it, it will show up as one of the boot options.  If you don't, you'll get an error if you try to enable that option.

If you see multiple legacy boot options -- but not UEFI -- the drive is likely set up in MBR mode - not GPT mode (the former is the way to boot most Windows 7 and earlier OSes;  the latter, for Windows 8 and 10).  While Windows 7 can be installed in UEFI mode (64-bit only -- 32 bit cannot), most 7 installs are done in MBR/legacy mode.

Look in the Setup section of the owner's manual:
