Alienware Aurora R5 Coil Whine

  • TLDR * Has my new PSU caused coil whine in my GPU?

My 8 month old computer developed a strange clicking noise coming from the PSU, dell insured me that my PSU was faulty and so they replaced it with a new one.

With the replacement PSU, the initial noise disappeared. However, I am now getting a loud high pitched screech when playing games, it sounds to me like "coil whine".

I have been trying to determine whether the coil whine is coming from the PSU or GPU, as they are positioned very close together. I never had this coil whine BEFORE my PSU was replaced. Only afterwards.

Could it be that the new PSU is effecting and potentially damaging my GPU with this coil whine, or is the new PSU the culprit.

I specifically experience this noise only when playing overwatch, i have tested with BF1 and it runs silently, which to me seems more graphically demanding. I have not tested with other games.

I will post my spec below for further clarification. Thanks for reading, any help or response is greatly appreciated.
